Chats Around The Chiminea, June 2012.

A series of four, outdoor panel discussions investigating the contemporary art-market and creative sphere.

Structure:

All invited Panel members begin by being members of the audience. One by one they are introduced. Each, after introduction, walk  out of the audience and to the Chiminea. In front of the Chiminea there is a stack of Pinon branches from Casita, Santa Fe. Each panel member picks up one branch and feeds it to the Chiminea, then take a seat in front. The seats are placed in a soft oval around the Chiminea. After each Panel member is seated, the following statement is spoken.

Welcome.”

This work is open/free to the public. Audio will be available as a podcast. Discussions begin promptly at Sunset

I. Pie In The Sky. 06/06 8:26 pm. A discussion that stems from the most significant and least discussed issues in the creative sphere: the momentum and vision of women that shapes the core of contemporary visual culture.

II. Generation Gap. 06/13 8:27 pm. A discussion that is prompted and focuses on the history of criticism and art writing and its manifestations, manipulations, and the challenges of translating contemporary visual culture in the multi-media minded information consumer.

III. Size Matters. 6/20 8:28 pm. A discussion between artists who’s creative vernacular is directly related to the physical nature of their finished work and persona.

IV. Dark Room. 6/27 8:29 pm. A conversation with image makers about the power of persuasion.
